Challenge

RheinLand needed a comprehensive assessment of their existing Microsoft Azure corporate environment to evaluate its current cloud architecture, operational practices, information security documentation and security posture. The assessment aimed to identify areas for improvement, optimization opportunities, and alignment with industry best practices and regulatory standards. ​

RheinLand is operating multiple Azure subscriptions, each supporting distinct business solutions. As part of its strategic evolution, RheinLand had initiated the development of a new cloud-native solution to deliver Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity (BC) services. These services were designed to operate relatively independently from existing on-premises infrastructure, leveraging the scalability and resilience of Microsoft Azure

Solution

DIGITALL conducted a detailed evaluation of the RheinLand Azure environment and provided comprehensive documentation. The evaluation was based on a combination of structured workshops, analysis of the documentation provided by RheinLand, and access to the live Azure environment.


The primary objective was to assess the current state of the infrastructure, identify potential gaps, and benchmark the implementation against the target architecture. ​

A key focus area of the analysis was three Azure subscriptions supporting the emergency recovery services solution – including resource organization, scalability patterns, deployment models, and integration with platform services.​

Leveraging their extensive consulting experience, DIGITALL identified opportunities for optimization and enhancement, and delivered actionable recommendations based on industry best practices and Microsoft reference architectures. Each recommendation was carefully tailored to RheinLand’s unique environment, ensuring practical solutions aligned with their specific needs and constraints.
